COMMUNITY CLEAN UP AND TREE PLANTING-KITENGELA ROAD, UHURU GARDEN’S PRIMARY SCHOOL

Date: 20th April, 2024.
Objective: Clean the environment and plant trees, educate the community and mark the world Earth Day.
Practice: We cleaned up around Kitengela road towards Civil servant estate. Where we cleared an illegal dump site, planted trees and sensitized the community members on proper disposal of waste as well as dangers that could arise from not taking care of the environment.

Success: We had a rigorous cleanup and an impactful tree planting exercise in Kitengela road and Uhuru Gardens Primary. We managed to clear an illegal dumpsite near civil estate and planted trees there. Heartfelt thanks to our esteemed partners – Shree Siddhi Vinayak Ganesh Mahotsav, KEPRO, Clean Up Kenya, PCUL, Red cross, We Forest International, Scouts and the neighbouring CBOs- alongside over 150 dedicated volunteers. We successfully planted 400 trees and collected an approximate 6.5 tons of waste. Additionally, we awarded three volunteers who brought more plastic waste which we used to sensitize the community about proper disposal of waste and recycling.
