Date: 15th September, 2023.
Objective: Clean the environment and plant trees, educate the community and mark the world Clean Up Day.
Practice: We cleaned up around Kitengela road through southlands slums to Ngei Primary where we planted trees and sensitized the community members on proper disposal of waste as well as dangers that could arise from not taking care of the environment.
Success: We held a massive cleanup exercise and tree planting activity in Lang’ata to mark the world Clean Up Day. We would like to extend our gratitude to our partner, Dimension Data and other 45 organizations and groups, as well as 800+ volunteers who joined THE MOTHER OF ALL CLEAN UPS IN THE WORLD. The event saw that the public was sensitized on the importance of proper waste disposal as well the value we stand to gain by planting and nourishing trees. We were able to recover About 22 tons of trash and planted 1000 tree seedlings at Ngei Primary. To culminate the event, we had free eye check ups by Opticals. Furthermore, the Coptic Hospital conducted free HIV Testing and counseling as well as GBV counseling in support of our event. This was graced by over 400 members of the public and attendees.
