At the Darren Hart Foundation, we believe impact is not a one-time act, it is a commitment.
When we first visited Kaloleni Children’s Home in South B (Fuata Nyayo), Nairobi, we responded to urgent and immediate needs. We provided food supplies, essential items, cleared a heavy water bill, and restored a broken freezer, interventions that brought stability and relief.
But more importantly, we listened. Listening That Leads to Action
During that initial visit, we noticed something easy to overlook, yet deeply significant:
The children had very few blankets and the ones they had were worn out.
It was a quiet need.
But a critical one.
And so, we returned.
Restoring Warmth, Comfort, and Dignity
On March 25th, the Darren Hart Foundation went back to Kaloleni Children’s Home, not just to give again, but to respond with intention.
This time, we provided:
√Enough blankets to ensure every child has warmth and comfort
√Additional clothing to support their daily needs
√More food supplies to sustain their well-being
These were not just items;
They were expressions of care.
Of dignity restored.
Of a promise kept.
Seeing Impact Come to Life
What made this visit even more meaningful was witnessing the transformation already underway. The support from our previous visit was not temporary, it was actively improving daily life at the home. From restored food storage to relieved financial pressure, the changes were visible. This is what sustainable impact looks like.
Looking Ahead: Building Better Living Conditions
Our journey with Kaloleni Children’s Home does not end here. We are now focused on the next phase of support:
•Improving cooking conditions for safer and more efficient meal preparation
•Providing essential utensils to support daily operations
•Securing a laundry machine to ease the burden of washing and improve hygiene
